The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as
be of a contrite spirit.  Many are the afflictions of the righteous:
but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. - Psalm 34:18-19

Dear Friends,

This a personal message, not an astronomy newsletter.  Our family has been shocked and saddened this week at the tragic news of our friends, the Lindsey Family, who lost their youngest child, four-year-old Joseph, in a drowning accident.

We all would agree that this is every parent's nightmare.  The Lindseys a wonderful Christian homeschool family.  They are all so loving.  The Ryans have known the Lindseys for maybe a dozen years, as we were in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts with them.  Their kids always beat our kids in the Pinewood Derby!

The Lindseys moved to Seattle, Washington from Cleveland, Ohio last year, in 2013, the answer to a long-standing prayer of theirs.  They were visiting family in Calgary when this happened.  This is so very sad.  Please join us in praying for this family during this most difficult of times.  And treasure each day with your own children.
A fund has been established to help the Lindseys with the considerable expenses incurred through this tragedy, including hospital and funeral costs, and also having to transport their son's body from Canada back to the United States.

If you are able, please contribute something to this fund, even if you do not know the family personally. And if you would, please forward this story to your own friends, and share the link below through social media.

It is our hope and prayer that the family will not have to endure financial hardship in addition to their considerable grief.  It is our prayer that the saints will surround them at this time and show them the truest example of Christian love.  However you are led, please do remember this family in your prayers.

Thank you, friends, and God bless you for your compassion.

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and
the stars, which thou hast ordained, what is man that thou art
mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
